Basic NRA Range Safety Officer Course - CTS-140

The Basic Range Safety Officer Course is the NRA’s response to the American public’s need for Range Safety Officer training.  NRA Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, conducting and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.  This is an 8 hour course limited to 20 students.

The primary goal of this course is to teach the basic duties a Range Safety Officer performs.  It provides a thorough introduction to: the role of Range Safety Officers; range standard operating procedures; range safety briefings; range inspections and rules; emergency procedures; and how to clear firearm stoppages and correct malfunctions.

This course will conclude with a Course Review and Written Examination.  You must achieve a score of 90 percent or higher to pass.  All instruction materials are provided by Center Target Sports and are included in the price of the class.The student is required to bring: an open mind; positive attitude; and a thirst for knowledge.  All graduates receive a Certificate of Completion from the NRA website.

NRA requirements for taking this class and becoming an RSO:

1.       Must be 21 years old

2.       Must complete the entire RSO class

3.       Must pass (90 percent or higher) final written exam

4.       After completion of class must submit all appropriate fees to the NRA directly (NRA fees separate from class fees)

 

In keeping with NRA policy

**No live firearms will be permitted in the classroom for the duration of the class**
